Welcome to DVVJ's

Karta över alla stoppen!  DVVJ, short for Dal Västra Värmlands Järnväg, was built in the early 20th century. In those days it connected Mellerud in the south with Arvika in the north, passing Bengtsfors and Årjäng on the way. The final journey on the railroad was in 1986, but this only meant a temporary hold-up for the traffic. The municipalities of Mellerud and Bengtsfors established the DVVJ Foundation in 1987. The same year DVVJ stared summer traffic between Bengtsfors and Mellerud. In 1989 the rail was removed between Årjäng and Arvika. The municipality of Årjäng was affiliated to the foundation in 1990. Today this railway of scenic views is one of the foremost tourist attractions in the region. The Årjäng-Bengtsfors route is frequently used by inspection trolleys, and the southbound traffic from Bengtsfors to Mellerud is run by railbuses. The most significant features for the whole route are all scenic spots and views you pass in either direction and different means of travel. Endless experiences of bluish mountains and extended lakes will surround you. During your entire trip a natural explanation to these spectacular views is of course the fact that the rail follows alongside the Dalsland´s Canal. Welcome to a different experience on the railway of sceneric views!
